Once you have arrived in Cyprus, one can visit any District Labour Office to register and receive appropriate information, guidance and assistance in job placement.

A job seeker registering at the Public Employment Service for the first time, must present a valid Passport or ID card, plus copies of certificates of academic and/or professional qualifications as well as translation in either Greek or English.

The PES Cyprus Internet-based vacancy systems

Another way to look for vacancies online is via the Internet-based vacancy system of the Public Employment Service. The vacancy details are either in Greek or in English (according to the language used when inserted). Jobseekers have also the facility to create and store their CV in a CV bank, which is accessible to potential employers.

Vacancies in Cyprus found through the EURES Portal

One can also search for job vacancies in the EURES Portal, the European Employment Services Network, under the "Search for Job"section, choosing "Cyprus" as your destination country. Every day there are new vacancies entered into the data base that may be of interest to all EU citizens holding the right qualifications.

Please note that if you are interested to apply for a vacancy found in the EURES Portal, while you are abroad, you must send your CV to the email address shown at the end of the Vacancy. Some vacancies are handled by a specified EURES Adviser and some others are handled directly by the employers them selves. Please remember that you ALWAYS have to indicate the national identification number of the Vacancy you wish to apply for.

Private employment agencies/job databases

Private recruitment agencies (mainly within Consultancy Firms), are an important source for managerial and highly specialized jobs. Also in the last years a considerable number of private recruitment services specialize in recruiting skilled and semi-skilled labour from abroad.

Applying for a job

The application procedure will differ depending on the type of work you are looking for. The standard procedure for applying for a job in Cyprus is a typed letter of application (Motivation Letter) accompanied by a CV.

There is no standard followed in Cyprus concerning the CV or the motivation letter. The EUROPASS CV Template is widely used in Cyprus. It is important to include in the CV, information on academic or professional qualifications and experience as well as personal data and information relevant to job preference. The motivation letter and CV should be typed and a maximum length of two pages should be satisfactory. Usually references are not required, unless specifically asked in the job advertisement or the specific application form – if such form exists.
